What I don’t like is the 3rd and even 4th upsell and as in the case of Dirty CPA, I end up wishing I hadn’t bothered buying the thing in the first place.

It’s like ‘hello, your sales pitch said this program uncovers all I need to know about CPA so why after making the purchase are you telling me I now need to buy your more in depth course which costs four figures?’

The Dirty CPA Review

OK, apart from the pet hate described above, I did learn quite a lot in the couple of days or so it took me to go through all the videos.

I would have liked a PDF to accompany each video but as long as you are quick at writing down urls and other important bits of info, using video to deliver this type of content works well.

There are a few holes in the process, the biggest one being the earning power of any given CPA campaign you set up. Let me explain….

The sales page asks the reader if they would like to “Make more money in 45 minutes than you do normally in a month?”

Assuming the answer is a resounding yes and the punter then buys the course to find out how, he is soon told within the videos that a CPA campaign is regarded a success if it returns a 50% profit.

This means that if your normal monthly salary is say $4000 then you would need to spend $8000 in those 45 minutes to make your $4K profit.

Spending that kind of money an hour is pretty easy when buying traffic, putting it on a winning CPA campaign is not so easy.

Luckily the course is pretty comprehensive and the point is made that you need to reign in your campaigns and test test test until you have your winners and then run with them as best as your budget allows.

Just be aware, you will need a few hundred dollars a month to run your test campaigns and then you will need plenty of spare cash or a high limit on your credit card if you want to make the kind of money the sales pitch talks about.

Was it worth the money?

I am more than happy with Dirty CPA. I picked up plenty of info and it comes with a couple of neat tools that I can use in my other marketing ventures, not just CPA.

One of the videos in the dirty tactics session is a presentation on PPV (pay per view) marketing by Alen Sultanic. This hour and a half video alone was worth the cost of the course as far as I am concerned. Whether a total newbie would think that though, I don’t know but with a trial at just $4.95 its worth getting in to find out.

In this post I’ll give you 7 simple one way link building strategies that give your Link Reputation a nice little boost, and also bring in highly targeted traffic all on their own.

One Way Links are valuable because they are viewed as truer votes towards your web page. The exception is sponsored links, or one way links that are obviously purchased. There are a number of ways that Google can tell this, which is one of the reasons that a permanent inbound link tends to gain more weight over time.

Easy One Way Link Building Strategies

The goal is to get permanent one way links pointing to your web pages, whether that be the main page of your site or internal pages or blog posts on your domain. You need a good number of quality deep links to those internal pages to boost your overall Link Reputation. Following are 7 very easy ways to achieve that…

1. Interviews

Interviews come in all shapes and sizes, and you can really get creative with this one. A traditional audio interview on a webinar, podcast or online radio show will usually get you a link on the host’s site and also a mention to their mailing list (even better if those newsletters are archived online).

I prefer text interviews on relevant blogs, as they give you a high quality contextual link from a relevant content page. This can be done by answering a series of questions via email that are then published on the blog.

Another option is Q&A style, which is fun and easy.

2. Guest Blogging

Interviews are great, but guest blogging is even better for one way link building. Why? Because as the author of the content on the page that is linking to your page, you have full control over that link.

You can choose the keyword phrase to optimize the blog post, choose the page you want to link to that is relevant to that topic, and use your preferred anchor text in that backlink. And if that wasn’t reason enough to start guest blogging, you’re also putting yourself in front of an established readership in your niche!

3. Private Paid Link

One thing you really want to stay away from is programs or schemes designed to create your one way links, or text link brokers that sell you one way links.

These programs and brokers are really frowned upon by the major search engines and could hurt your Link Reputation rather than improving it.

This being the case, I still purchase text links from time to time – I just do it smarter. And I never purchase a temporary link, but rather a permanent contextual inbound link on a relevant content page or blog post.

How do I manage to do that? Simple: I offer bloggers a one-time payment to blog about a specific link on my site. Most of the “pay per post” brokers pay their bloggers $5-$15 for blog posts, so that price range is suitable – particularly for B-list or C-list bloggers. I usually use Job Boards on forums to make the offer.

I do not specify anchor text, give them more than one page or blog post to choose from, and just request that they blog about the topic and link back to the page/post. I do this because I want link variation, and because I’m buying “advertising” or “buzz” – rather than specifically buying text links.

Never use a broker. Do it yourself, or hire a virtual assistant to manage it. Period.

4. Article Marketing

Submitting articles to article directories is similar to guest blogging in that you have complete control over the content and the link. This is a great method that people have been using successfully for years.

In addition to getting indirect rankings when your submitted article ranks well, and then funnels traffic into your site, your article can also get republished all over the web – resulting in numerous quality one way links.

Sidenote: A lot of us – newbies and experienced marketers alike – are taking Jeff Herrings new article marketing e-course. It’s cheap and it’s awesome – super great investment to really nail this strategy.

5. Testimonials

Most merchants won’t publish a live outbound link to your site from their sales page, but if you get creative you might just be able to get a link from their blog or an internal page on their website pointing to your review or case study of their product.

I’m actually seeing an example of this in the SERPs now with a page I’m trying to beat out for their #3 listing. By analyzing their backlinks, I discovered the merchant was linking to their review.

Look for merchants that link out to reviews, give live links in testimonials, or that have blogs. If they have a blog you can offer a detailed case study or success story as a guest post, which includes the link to your review of their product.

6. DMOZ Directory

Meh. Good luck. But if you can manage to get a one way link by submitting and getting an approved listing in the DMOZ directory – go you!

7. Social Bookmarking

Ideally you should include social bookmarking buttons on your blog posts or web pages to encourage your readers to bookmark your content. This is the best and most natural way to get one way links from this source.

You can also set up your own social bookmarking accounts, but my advice is that for every link of your own that you bookmark… you should bookmark 5 or 10 other links on domains or properties you do not own. This keeps it natural, and resourceful.

If you are getting backlinks for the purpose of higher rankings in the major search engines, then you need a variety of links from a variety of source types.

The goal is to get organic, natural backlinks. The kind that both visitors and search engines love most. The kind that happen naturally on their own, but that you must also push along a bit for proper content marketing…

A common mistake that bloggers and webmasters make when promoting their content is to stick to one type of link-building only. Some do mainly article marketing, others prefer social bookmarking, some blog commenting, etc.

But ideally you’ll want a variety of links, coming from a variety of source types – with variation in the anchor text of the links as well.

It’s unnatural, and therefore appears spammy, to get 100 new backlinks all from social bookmarking sites only, and all with the exact same anchor text. This is likely to send up a red flag, and do more harm than good to your seo strategy.

This is not effective link building. It’s similar to running for a political office, and visiting all of the voting booths yourself… to cast votes for yourself.

An effective link building campaign is one that appears more like a natural buzz. Google counts links to your site as ‘votes’ for your content, and they are most interested in what other sites/people have to say about it than what you say.

In order to create that natural appearance for your inbound links, you use variation. You’ll want to get links from blog posts, blog comments, social bookmarking sites, social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, web pages, press releases (if appropriate), article directories, niche directories, discussion forums, etc.

You’ll want a variety of anchor text in those links as well. This is best achieved by using longtail keyword phrases, or by using more than one keyword phrase that is relevant to the content on that page.

The advantage to using variation in your anchor text is that not only do your links appear more natural, which means they’ll carry more weight with the major search engines, but you can achieve top rankings for more than one search phrase.

For example, I have one web page that ranks in the Top 3 for three different keyword phrases. I make sales from that page every single week (and some weeks, every day). This is due to using the three different phrases as the anchor text, and switching it up each time I get a new link to that page.

You can create an effective link building campaign by kick-starting the buzz, and with great content you’ll end up with many more natural backlinks in addition to those you create yourself.

This is not something you want to do for every single web page or blog post, but it’s well worth it for those pillar articles – or those pages/post you most want to rank well in the major search engines.

An effective link building strategy might include:

• Create internal links from related pages on your blog/site
• Tweet the link and ask for feedback
• Publish the link on your Facebook profile or page
• If a blog post, create pingbacks to related blog posts
• Comment on related blog posts, using your specific link in the URL field
• Published a related YouTube video, include the hyperlink in the description field
• Add the link to your niche discussion forum profiles
• Include the link in your forum signature on niche forums
• Submit relevant articles to article directories with the link in the byline
• Submit a press release (if appropriate for your content piece)
• Write guest blog posts on niche blogs, with the link in your signature
• Engage in Cross Blog Conversations with other bloggers on the topic
• Include the link with 5-10 other related links on a social bookmarking list
• If the link is to the main page, add it to niche directories
• If the link is to the main page of a blog, also add it to blog/RSS directories

If you have a really good piece of content, these strategies will kick-start a natural buzz and new unsolicited links from a variety of sources. People may find and like your content and then stumble, tweet, bookmark, or blog about your link. And that’s exactly what you want.

Sure, this is work – particularly in the beginning. But once you identify your best sources you’ll find that it becomes faster and easier with time. You’ll have a list of blogs in your RSS Reader, a list of niche forums you’re engaged with, etc. And you can also outsource the tasks once you get a working strategy in place.

The variation in anchor text and sources is incredibly important for effective link building. Never dismiss a linking opportunity due to PageRank, Nofollow attribute, lack of option to include anchor text, etc. You need these to offset your highly optimized links… to avoid the dreaded “over-optimization” (ie: search engine manipulation, spam).

Yes it looks good and it probably is but what’s the point in buying it when you could well end up competing against hundreds (perhaps even thousands) of membership sites offering the exact same thing you are?

Out of those hundreds of competitors, many are going to be big players with huge lists already so they’ll have a jump on the average IM’er from the start. While the newbie is still unpacking Sourcecode millions, others will be quickly established and the marketplace will be flooded before they’ve even started.

The average Joe trying to convince folk to join their version of Traffic Python (the software that comes with Sourcecode Millions) instead of Guru bob’s is not going to easy.

It will probably end in a price war with people giving away more and more to try and entice new members and in the end most will be lucky to get back the $1300 Sourcecode Millions cost them.

So why hasn’t Brett announced how many will be sold? After all, in the original seminar he said he hadn’t yet decided but it would be strictly limited although he hadn’t yet come to a decision on the exact numbers.

As I’ve posted comments on the Sourcecode Millions blog asking this question and sent an email as per instructions if you ‘have any presale questions’ and have yet to receive a reply, it seems he still hasn’t decided what the cut off will be.

Call me a sinical bastard but my guess is the last 50 Sourcecode Millions will be announced once every last possible sale has been squeezed from the honey train.

When every list has been mailed to death and all fresh ideas for bonuses have dried up, that announcement of “the last few available” may well squeeze another $50K into the piggy bank.

If I remember right it was Marc from PLRPro who advised me some years ago that if I was to take this game seriously I needed to use either Aweber or GetResponse as my autoresponder service, all other similar services were merely pretenders.

Being new, being me and being a smart arse, I decided not to listen and shopped around to find myself a bargain basement ‘pretender’ called emailaces.

Since then I’ve built lists of over:

7000+ UK homeowners who have hired the services of a builder and had major renovation work done (priceless).

2000+ would be internet marketers.

1000+ Americans worried about identity theft.

About 10 other smaller lists covering indegestion, back problems etc etc.

Value of above? I’m going to say a grand a month……..minimum.

Last week my bank phoned to say they believed my dedit card had been compromised online and they would not be accepting anymore transactions via the card in question and a new one would be in the post asap.

The card arrived a few days ago so I logged in to my Paypal account and added the new card. Once the 2 small payments had been taken via the card to confirm it was mine, it was all set up.

I should point out at this point that any card attached to my paypal account has not been used for at least 2 years. I get money paid into my account every day from sales made and I never completely empty the account.

No problems so far…

I then cancelled the old card from my Paypal account as per bank instructions only to instantly receive 14 emails from Paypal each telling me a subscription payment had been cancelled and would no longer be taken from my account in the future.

These included memberships such as SEnuke, LinkVana, Backlink Solutions, Nichebot, HostNine, SEO Hosting, a pile of Hostgator accounts and EmailAces.

Dave Kelly’s support guy from LinkVana emailed literally within minutes to ask if I had “really” cancelled or was it a problem with Paypal? HostNine and Hostgator responded to my tickets within an hour to confirm they wouldn’t cancel anything. Everyone else responded within 24 hours to confirm it would not be a problem. Everyone that is apart from emailaces.

The following is a copy and paste of the email I got from emailaces within minutes of Paypal cancelling:

“the Email Aces account referenced above will no longer be billed and is considered to be PERMANENTLY cancelled. We can not re-add you to the system, or re-enable your account for any reason.”

I’ve emailed their support. I’ve filled in their support forms. I’ve emailed their Paypal address. I’ve submitted a Paypal dispute.

My emails ask…

• If their credit and debit cards have expiry dates?

• Why they see fit to cancel accounts without any confirmation request?

• Why if I pay monthly on the 26th should I be locked out of my account with at least a week to go of this month even if I did cancel the subscription?

Not a word of reply as yet. I can’t log in to download my lists and yes I know I should have backed them up but do you?

Lesson learned. From now on its big players only for me. If you are using emailaces or similar services (and that goes for cheap hosting as well as autoresponder services) do yourselves a favor and get out while you can do it on your own terms.

I’ve got to spend the rest of the week going around all my sites, setting up new forms and building lists again from scratch!

I can tell you right now, within 10 minutes I was regretting not taking the plunge months ago and adding this tool to my ever growing list of marketing and promotion tools.

The easiest way for me to do an SEnuke review is tell you exactly how I use it because if you’re like me and want your tools to really be ‘automatic’ then this will probably blow your socks off!

Once I’ve checked my email to see how many sales I made while I was asleep, I fire up SEnuke and click on create accounts.

First thing it does is create an email account to use for all the new sign ups. Once thats done, off it goes and creates new accounts at all the top web 2.0 sites, around 70 in all with more being added all the time.

It does all this while I make my first coffee of the morning. I can make my breakfast and leave SEnuke to it because it does all the captcha solving for itself.

Once I’ve had my caffeine fix, SEnuke will be just about done and I can then send it to go and confirm all the accounts by answering the emails required. This takes about 5 minutes.

Now for some promoting. I give SEnuke a keyword phrase and tell it to find me a suitable article on my chosen subject. Next I click the ’spin it for me’ button and it automatically adds the spin syntax to the article. I click the ‘check uniqueness’ and it spins 16 versions and compares them all against each other and tells me if its spun enough (target is 30% difference between each).

Once I’ve added a link or two to the article pointing at the pages I want to promote I hit the publish and off it goes to log in to all those web 2.0 sites and publish a version of the article at each. Just for good measure it drops a link at the bottom of each post linking to the last one it did, making link wheel creation an absolute breeze.

15 minutes later and all done, SEnuke then pings all the new urls just created. It then nukes them all to random bookmarking accounts and just to finish off, submits all the RSS feeds to various RSS Aggregator sites.

The whole process takes about an hour. As you probably already know, or if not I’m sure you can imagine, doing all of the above site and blog creation, article re-writing, site submissions, bookmarking etc. would probably take 3 good days.

So far I have only used it for link building but a lot of the success stories on the forum are from marketers who use it to promote affiliate products direct. It even has a built in market finder which does your market research for you. Enter a keyword and it checks to see if any web 2.0 pages are in the top 20 results. If there are it then checks Clickbank for suitable products to promote.

I signed up for the SEnuke free trial knowing it would have to be really good to get me to add another recurring monthly bill to my Paypal account. After using it just once though, I knew I wouldn’t be parting with it. This is a great piece of kit and I suggest you take it for a test run yourself before the doors close forever because I don’t see any requests for refunds in the forum.

Yep, its free. Now I dare say there is an upsell attached to this but it really is a great piece of software and I use mine at least a couple of times a week.

Assuming there is an offer attached, don’t expect it to be a hard sell. Jason is not a hard sell guy, he lets his products speak for themselves. A founder of Portal Feeder, the first guy to offer Spin Ready PLR, creator of Content Composer which I’ve been singing the praises of for at least a year and the more recently he created Traffic kahuna and PPC Kahuna.

All the above are quality software and membership sites that need no pre-sell so I’m guessing Jason is using his usual tactic of giving away a great piece of software like Article Assistant so that anyone who hasn’t yet come across his suite of tools gets to see just how good his offers are.
